I found this story worth 4 ½ stars. I almost gave it 5 but the plot got a little too linear and the characters while well drawn were not all developed as well as could be.The following review is a spoiler for the previous book so if you intend to read that do not proceed.
Review:
Myro (witch) and Mirage (hunter) have merged to form Mirei,a powerfull witch with control over void magic. She has survived the initial bad reception and gotten a powerfull ally in Satomi the Void Prime (the Void rules the internal affairs of the winches). Unfortunately telling an organization that has been doing things a given way for thousands of years they are all wrong does not meet with a lot of support. (think Martin Luther and the Catholic church.) So while various rebellions are brewing they need to grab the Doppelgangers to protect them; build support from the nobles, and the religions. Overall a nicely complex stew with some humor and good characters thrown in.
I strongly recommend reading Doppelganger first and this book will make more sense. Both are excellent reads.

The text was predictable, especially given the foreshadowing in Warrior, the book to which "Witch" is a sequel. Nevertheless, it was a good escape from the minutiae of life. Gratitude to the author!
Really enjoyed this escape.
This was a very good sequel up until the last few chapters where everything got rushed, like there was a deadline to meet. The ending left a lot of loose ends and unanswered questions.
I gave Warrior a 5 star rating, I give Witch a 5 star rating too. My comments on Witch are much the same as I gave for Warrior. I liked the story line. I can not and will not complain about the story line - I thought it was wonderful, I rally enjoyed the book whether totally original or not it was a good read and one I enjoyed.
While the honorific titles were confusing and one must often wonder if the reader is pronouncing the names correctly - it is often such as thus with fantasy type stories. YOU just have to get through it and enjoy the story and not let that become a detractor. Now, maintain that correct grammar doesn't always make for the most readable story. My example again is the use of "former and latter" and the use of "foci" instead of the less correct but more readable "focuses." True, grammatically correct, but to me as a reader they break up the smooth flow of the story. From a personal standpoint I have always found the use of "former and latter" and also "foci" irksome to hear and to read. Nevertheless I got through the story and at the end I can honestly say that it was a good story and I recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy stories. Good job, Ms. Brennan. I look forward to reading MIDNIGHT NEVER COME.
Review by Mark Grant, Author of Blood of Scotland.
This is a great sequel to Warrior. I didn't initially think that Warrior needed any more, but this sequel does a great job continuing the story without making it seem forced or redundant. It's a really fun read that had me turning pages! I wish there were a third! If you liked Warrior, you'll love Witch!
I chose to read this because I really enjoy Brennan's Lady Trent books. The pacing in both Witch and Warrior was slow in the beginning, and then "resolved" everything toward the end. So while not unenjoyable, With and Warrior likely reflect the work of a developing author, whose writing definitely improves with later books.
When a witch is known to the world, the person is sort spilt into two persons sort of , one with powers and another one doppelganger, a double with no powers. But for same reason the double must be distory, killed by the other half. The reason is never clear it's been done for so long it's more a ritual, than anything else.
I found this story worth 4 ½ stars. I almost gave it 5 but the plot got a little too linear and the characters while well drawn were not all developed as well as could be.
